Summer Event Series

Welcome to FSA’s Summer Special Event Series, which features a different member organization every few weeks. While our members have a shared set of values, each is distinctive in its setting, service delivery, admissions procedures, contracts, and financial arrangements. The programs of each organization grow and change over time in response to evolving needs. Each seeks to be responsive to its residents or clients and the needs of its surrounding community.

Up next: Barclay Friends

Barclay Friends is a Kendal affiliate offering homelike accommodations and warm, compassionate care. They employ a dedicated staff with many years of service who understand that focusing on residents’ individual needs enhances their quality of life.

Residents work with their horticultural therapist to design floral arrangements and cultivate produce for the local food bank. Their recreational team helps residents discover their “not before realized” creativity by utilizing arts and music.

Many exciting events and activities have already occurred this summer at Barclay Friends, and more are planned for the coming months. The gardens are alive and well, and horticulture is in full swing! Each week, residents across the community plant seeds, garden, and create floral arrangements. Their goal is to enjoy their “harvest” of vegetables by using them in their cooking classes.

The Barclay Friends Handbell Choir performed twice in June—one concert in Personal Care and another performance in Skilled Nursing.

Another highlight of the season was the “Summer Bash,” which included live entertainment, games, a water ice truck, and more!

In July, they celebrated the Fourth of July with a resident favorite band, Grateful Alive!

Looking ahead to the fall, they will be having their Annual Fall Fest to ring in the season. This event will feature raffle baskets, live music, games, and fall-themed food.
